Protein 101 – Things we Need to Know About Protein

Protein is one of the most misunderstood thing in the earth, it is also the most neglected.

Protein is dubbed as the building blocks of the body. It is needed by the body to replace muscles, bones, bloods, other body liquid, and many more. This is also a main aid in brain functions as well as to the simple things like moving, lifting and even breathing. For cell and tissue renewing, protein plays a vital role.

For kids, protein is quite needed in order to develop motors well. It is well recommended to give kids high-in-protein diets in order for them grow taller, smarter and stronger.

How Many Proteins Humans Needed

Humans need protein based on age, weight, medical condition, and let’s include the purpose. Kids need  at least .4 grams of protein in every pound of their weight. In example, a kid weighing 25 kilograms needs 22 grams of proteins, this also goes well with sedentary adults.

Your protein need = weight in pounds * .4

However, the actual protein need of a human depends. In example, a person suffering from a disease or malnutrition needs more protein than ordinary people.

If you are into fitness, wanted to build muscles, athletes and many more, you needed a way more proteins than usual. In example, my friend, a Badminton player who is an official player of a big company with a weight of 150 pounds was advised by his coaches to consume more than 200 grams of protein per day.

Way back, our ancestors,  consume more than 200 grams of proteins per day as they eat raw  foods, hunt intensively for food and fought for survival.

Protein Sources

Lean meat from different animals like cow, chicken, turkey, fish, and many more are very good source of protein. A 90 grams of chicken breast has 10.5 grams of protein, while a 6 oz. of pork has 49 grams.

We can also get protein from nuts, beans, legumes, eggs, milk, and milk products.

Green leafy vegetables are also good sources of proteins.

How Proteins are Processed?

When you consume foods with protein, the digestive juices will now start working. They will break down the protein in small units that will be distributed throughout the body that will be reused to maintain muscles, organs, blood, and many more.

There are actually 22 types of amino acids that a human body needs. Thirteen (13) of them are produced by the body, while the remaining 9 are created by nature and can be consumed through foods we eat. These 9 types of amino acids that we needed comes in meat, beans, sedds, and many more. For vegetarians, all 9 are also found in vegetables.

Results of Proteins

Our total body mass is 70% nutrition. Understand protein, consume it in right amount and will result into leaner, healthier, sounder, and younger you. If you have lots of protein in your body, your body will function well including metabolism, immune system, and many more.
