One day, my father asked me to cook something for us. He just instructed me to look in the freezer and make something out of it. There, I just saw some vegetables and chicken breasts. I first opted to make adobo, but my sister earlier ranted that she’s getting sick of it.
One of the most fascinating creatures are the mushroom and I am talking about the edible ones. Why thought so? Because they are actually fungi. Just try imagining eating a fungus — it’s somehow a little undesirable, right? However, I can’t resist chewing on these chewy creatures.
What’s great is that my mother also loves it. She add these supposedly-parasites in her version of Pinakbet. She usually adds the oyster mushroom.
Shiitake Mushroom is another variety that is well-used here in our home. My sisters love them added in Chopseuy or other vegetable dishes.
I came up with a dish featuring Shiitake Mushrooms along with chicken and pasta. This is in a little resemblance with adobo with a little spicy sauce.
On Friday (8-10-2012), one of our dogs, Batutay scratched my bedroom door at the middle of the night. I don’t know what’s up, angrily opened the door and when she saw me, there is an obvious sign of relief and the full wagging of tail shows she’s quite happy. She entered my room without my permission jumped on my bed and slept. Then, I came into conclusion that she felt cold, so I just let her sleep beside me.
When we humans are feeling cold, aside from curling on bed with blanket covering us, one of the ways to warm up ourselves is by sipping a warm soup.
Locally, a Chicken and Ginger Soup is called Tinolang Manok, this is a boiled chicken with ginger and more spices. This is one of my favorite dish since I was a kid.
Roasted chicken marinated in Vinegar Sauce
It’s Summer now and everyone wanted to become a little thinner. One of the best way is to lessen fat intake and eating grilled or roasted meat is definitely a good thing to start with. While cooking roasted chicken some of the fat will be eliminated making a healthier dish. If you are really into diet remove the skin of chicken while eating (torture yun).
This roasted chicken of mine is soaked in a different marinade. As I always said, the longer the meat is marinated the better. So start this recipe ahead of time to achieve the greatest taste.
Few weeks ago, I already posted my recipe for Roasted Chicken with Red Garlic Sauce. I used the chopped ones, because my mom forgot that I requested for a whole chicken.
This time, my mom bought me whole chicken. I marinaded it first in a different marinade and cook it again using our turbo broiler. The longer the chicken is soaked in the marinade the better.
The most popular dish that we Filipinos used to cook and eat was the Adobo. When I’m not in the mood to cook, this is the first dish that will come into my mind. This is also very easy to do as this is just putting all the ingredients together and let it boil. But, when I’m in the mood, and thought of cooking this, I do it very special.
Just like any other sauce dish, I want my adobo with little but wild and thick sauce. This is also one of my specialty and I will teach you my chicken and pork adobo dish with lots of spices.
Pinya is the tagalog version of pineapple (now you have the idea of this dish). This fruit is very abundant in the Philippines on a way that it is sold everywhere.
Pininyahang Manok, on the other hand, is a dish where the chicken is stewed in coconut milk, pineapple with vegetables and spices. This is one of the dish my mom loved to cook way back my elementary days.
