This easy sinigang recipe is a gift to modern parents who both work to make ends meet. This is also good for stay-at-home parents who need to do chores while cooking.

For this dish, sour plant products such as tamarind, calamansi, and kamias are used. However, preparing them will take some time and effort, which is inconvenient for busy mommies and daddies. Thankfully, packed products are available. Just add them to the dish and you are good to go.

This post is about an easy sinigang recipe featuring a pack of sinigang mix from Knorr.

Ingredients

1/2 kilo pork – slice

1 bundle string beans – slice based on your desired size

1 bundle kangkong – slice

4 pieces tomatoes – slice

1 medium onion – chop

4 cloves garlic – mince

1 pack Knorr Sinigang Mix with Gabi

Salt and pepper to taste

Procedure

Read: Sinigang na Hipon at Baboy

Boil 5 cups of water.

Add the pork, cover the pan, and let it boil until the meat tenderizes.

Add the tomatoes, garlic, and onion. Then, let it boil until the tomato skin peels off.

Put the Knorr Sinigang Mix and let it boil.

Add salt and pepper. Mix to distribute the flavor.

Add the string beans and let boil until cooked.

Put the kangkong, turn heat to low, and cover. Wait for a couple of minutes before turning off the heat.

Serve and enjoy.

Notes

You can also add okra, eggplant, and radish. To make the soup thicker, you can add taro.

When preparing the string beans, you must first remove the bottom. It’s hard and unedible.

When adding the salt, make sure it’s a little bland. The soup will reduce as you cook the vegetables.

This easy sinigang recipe is perfect for professional moms and dads who use to go home late and need to prepare food for their families. This is also good for parents who used to stay at home and need to do other things while cooking.

This is also best with hot rice and a saucer of fish sauce.

Though it’s still hot, we can now feel the rainy season. It has been raining and sometimes, the cold breeze is showing its might. One of the best ways to settle down during colds times is by sipping soup of ou favorite dish — sinigang.

Sinigang is a stew characterized with sour flavor. Way back the old ages, fruits like tamarind, kamias, and citrus are used to add a sour taste to the soup, but today’s generation and probably, due to high demands, pack mixes have been created.

Read: Sinigang na Bangus Recipe

When I was working in a BPO company, I used to look for this stew to energize me and keep me going. That time, before going home from a sleepless and let us all say, stressful work, I will go to the nearest karinderya and will buy this to chow down before sleeping.

This post will use pork as the main ingredient of this stew, as per title.

Ingredients

1 kilo of pork kasim – chop 4 by 4 inches

4 pieces of eggplant – sliced

2 bundles of Kang kong (water spinach)

4 pieces of tomato – chopped

12 cups water

2 pieces siling panigang

5 cloves garlic

2 medium red onions

Sinigang with gabi mix

Salt and pepper to taste

Procedure

In a casserole, boil the pork along with garlic, onions and tomatoes. Wait until the tomatoes peel-off.

Add the sinigang with gabi mix and boil. Wait until the soup thickens.

Put salt and pepper to taste.

Add eggplant and Put into a boil.

When the eggplant is already cooked add the Kang Kong. Then, boil for 1 minute.

Kasim is just the recommended part. You can also use lomo, belly, and other parts, as long as there’s meat.

If you don’t like using sinigang mixes, then, you can replace it with real fruits like tamarind. To make the soup thick, you can add real gabi.

This recipe taught you how to make sinigang na baboy. You can also play around with the ingredients.

Are you looking for a sinigang na baboy that features thick soup? look no more, because this post will teach you sinigang na baboy with gabi recipe.

There are two kinds of Pinoys when it comes to eating sinigang.

First, or probably, the most common are the soup monsters who are usually the culprit to the sinigang soup drought. They would love to stuff their plates with a tremendous amount of soup to the point that the rice is fully soaked before chowing down.

Second, are the pa-sosy type, which is my group. We love to get a separate bowl and a plate of rice. We will just drizzle our plate with enough soup to wet a part of our rice and then will top it with the ingredients. Then, we’ll eat. We also love sipping soup while chewing.

Recipe: Sinigang Na Baboy Sa Sampalok Recipe

Here is another sinigang dish. This time, there is taro to thicken the soup and mustard for an additional flavor.

Ingredients

1 Kilo pork – sliced into the desired sizes

1 bundle kangkong (Chinese spinach) – chopped

5 pieces medium tomatoes – chopped

4 piece long eggplant – sliced

1 bundle mustard – Remove the base and chop in half

2 pieces horseradish – peeled and chopped

7 pieces medium raw tamarind – cleaned

4 pieces small taro – chopped

4 cloves garlic – minced

2 medium onions – chopped

9 cups water (one cup for tamarind stock)

Salt and pepper to taste

Procedure

In a small pan boil the raw tamarind in a cup of water. Crash when already soft. Strain and set the “tamarind stock” aside.

In another deep pan, boil the pork in the remaining cups of water for about 30 minutes under medium fire.

Add onion, garlic, half of the taro, eggplant, and tomatoes. Boil for another 5 minutes.

Put the tamarind stock and boil for about a minute.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Add the remaining taro and horseradish. Boil or for 5 minutes.

Put the mustard and kangkong. Boil for one minute.

Serve with rice and enjoy.

The sour, tingling, and exploding flavor make sinigang a favorite dish of every household in the Philippines.

Sinigang is primarily composed of meat, vegetables, and seasonings. Traditionally, fruits like calamansi, sampalok, and kamias are added to make the soup sour and more flavorful.

However, with this modern-day, where people are busy, artificial flavorings are everywhere. They make life easier but admit it, they make our palate a little frustrated.

Read: Pork Mechado Recipe

This recipe involves sampalok or tamarind, which is first boiled in a cup of water, crushed, and then strained. Moreover, the meat used is pork.

Ingredients:

1 kilo pork (kasim) – chopped into small pieces

1/2 kilo tamarind

1 bundle string beans – chopped

5 pieces medium tomatoes – chopped

1 large radish – peeled and chopped

2 medium red onion – chopped

4 cloves garlic – crushed

8 cups water

Salt and pepper to taste

Prepare the Tamarind Mixture

Clean the tamarind one by one. This will remove the dust and other materials.

In a pan, boil 1 cup of water.

Then, add the tamarind and let it boil.

Using the ladle, crush the tamarind.

Drain then set aside.

Sinigang Na Baboy Sa Gabi is perfect for rainy days. They are easy to make and much better if we’ll use fruits to make the soup sour.

Let’s all admit – we curse rainy days. We can’t go outside, our children can’t play, and it’s hard to go to our work and school.

However, we should also rejoice because rainy days are needed by our beloved farmers, especially those who are suffering from a lack of water supply.

Instead of wishing the rainy days is over, why can’t we just have something that will help us cool down. A piping hot soup is one best example.

Read: Chicken and Molo Soup Recipe

Sinigang na Baboy sa Gabi is one way to ease up during the cold weather. It’s much better if we’ll use natural fruits to make the soup sour.
